On Saturday, June 7, several of our CASC teams came together not just as soccer players, but to support the kids at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). Team CASC Kickin’ It proudly participated in Walk & Play L.A., a family-friendly fundraising event hosted at the Santa Monica Pier to CHLA.
This annual event is more just than a 3K walk (about 2 miles). CASC walked with 1000’s of participants along the scenic beach path in honor of the patients at CHLA, raising funds that directly support critical, life-saving care and cutting-edge research for children across Southern California.
Since its launch in 2017, the Walk & Fun event has raised over $3.2 million, and this year alone, supporters like our CASC families helped surpass the $480,000 goal, bringing in over $616,000 for CHLA’s programs.
Why It Matters
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a national leader in pediatric medicine, providing world-class care to children facing life-threatening conditions—regardless of their family’s ability to pay. Walk & Play L.A. helps fuel CHLA’s mission to create hope and build healthier futures.
At CASC, we believe that being part of a soccer team is about more than just the game—it’s about developing character, leadership, and a strong sense of community.
By taking part in events like Walk & Play L.A., our players learn the value of giving back, supporting others, and being part of something bigger than themselves. These moments off the field help build:
- Empathy and perspective – Walking for kids facing serious medical challenges helps young athletes appreciate their own health and the privilege of play.
- Team unity – Supporting a cause together brings teammates closer and strengthens bonds beyond practice and competition.
- Life skills – Responsibility, compassion, and civic engagement are just as important as athletic development—and shape well-rounded individuals.
When our teams show up at community events, they’re not just representing CASC—they’re showing what it means to be leaders, teammates, and role models.
A Day to Remember
The event wasn’t just meaningful—it was fun! Before and after the walk, our players and families enjoyed:
- Interactive play zones featuring soccer shooting with the LA Galaxy, beach volleyball, hockey, roller skating, and adaptive sports
- Free slushies
- Live music and entertainment on the pier
- And of course, plenty of sunshine and team spirit
