CASC Announces the Appointment of New Board Members

The staff and current board of California Athletic Soccer Club are pleased to welcome new board members:

  • Marcus Charuvastra (Vice President),
  • Jonas Cedergren (Treasurer), and
  • Sarah Schultz (Secretary).

With our greatest appreciation and respect; leaving the board will be, Reggie Rivas, Neal Bird, and Ian Tilley.

After founding the original club, Crescenta Valley SC, Reggie Rivas has given over 20 years to the local soccer community and will take some time away from youth soccer to concentrate on his beautiful young family. Reggie will retain the role as consultant for CASC.

Dan Sanchez, President

We are incredibly pleased to announce Dan Sanchez as the President of California Athletic Soccer Club. After previously serving as Treasurer of the club for many years, Dan previously coached AYSO soccer, and has a daughter that plays for our Girls 2006 team. By profession, Dan is a Residential & Commercial Real Estate Agent and Property Manager for over 23 years.

“I look forward to helping our coaches and directors provide the best possible development and playing experience for the kids.”


Marcus Charuvastra, Vice President

Marcus Charuvastra

Marcus has coached boys and girls at the high school, club and recreational level for over 22 years. Having worked for both the City of Los Angeles, Dept. of Recreation and Parks and the Santa Monica/Malibu School District for over a decade, he has a wealth of experience and depth of knowledge of child development, youth sports, recreation administration and business development. Currently, Marcus is the Managing Director at Targeted Medical Pharma, and the Chief Revenue Officer at Coolisys Technologies Corporation. Marcus is a SoCal Native and UCLA graduate.

Jonas Cedergren, Treasurer

Been with the club since 2017, and coaches Girls 2008 alongside Marcus. Jonas had the opportunity to experience soccer at the highest level as part of the staff for the Swedish World Cup team here in the US (1994) – finishing as Bronze Medalists. After 17 years living in London, Jonas runs an asset management firm here in LA, and teaches classes at Sierra Canyon High School – where he is also a member of the school’s board.

Sarah Schultz, Secretary

Sarah is currently the Head of School of a private elementary school. She has been part of the soccer world for over 15 years, having experience both in AYSO and multiple Club teams, with extensive experience serving as a board member for numerous years.

“I am extremely excited about joining the CASC Board to bring both the educational and multi year experience to the table.”


Heidi Strauss, Board Member

Heidi Strauss

Involved with the club since 2013, Heidi currently coaches CASC Girls 2006 & 2009 teams, and is the club administrator. Away from club soccer, Heidi is a Physical Education Teacher at the Polytechnic School in Pasadena, where she is also the Head Coach for the Varsity High School Girls Soccer Team.  

“I am excited to continue with the club in this new chapter and provide our players an opportunity to grow and develop.”
